Recovery Block Parties - Taking Recovery to the Streets!

Contributed by L.S. Webb, Community Engagement Manager for Walden Sierra

For people seeking recovery, finding a positive place within the recovery community can be life-saving. Removing the stigma of illness and helping people in recovery have positive feelings about managing a substance use disorder, addiction and/or other mental health issue are big priorities for treatment and recovery support programs.

Beacon of Hope Recovery Community Center is Walden’s spot in Lexington Park, Maryland that is open to the public for recovery support. We will be having our first-ever Recovery Block Party on Sunday, September 16th from 1-4 p.m. Folks in the area can expect food, fun, music, fellowship and information offered in a family friendly environment.

We hope it will be as awesome as the Dallas, Texas program, Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA)’s Recovery Block Party last September. Take a look at what the fun and the healing of a recovery block party is all about.

If you live locally in Southern Maryland and want to help Walden with the planning and day-of activities for the Recovery Block Party at Beacon, please contact us at lauraw@waldensierra.org.
