Drug and Alcohol Treatment

At Walden, we offer a menu of education and treatment services dedicated to meeting the individualized behavioral health needs of adolescents and adults in need of services such as drug and alcohol assessment and treatment, psychiatric services, medication management and medication assisted treatment (i.e. buprenorphine/suboxone.)

Assessments are the first step in making a recommendation to individuals and families regarding the most appropriate level of care. Walden counselors typically suggest the least restrictive level of care that meets the individual’s need for treatment. We offer walk-in assessments at our Charlotte Hall and Lexington Park locations Monday-Friday, 12 p.m. -2 p.m., except holidays.

Family education and engagement is available and encouraged at each level of care.  Please see our links page for information about recovery support for families such as Al Anon and Family and Friends SMART Recovery meetings locally.

Outpatient Services

Our treatment and therapy services include several levels of outpatient addiction (drug and alcohol) treatment and care, including early intervention education, outpatient, intensive outpatient services and continuing care that are available to adolescents and adults. Our treatment model includes individual and group counseling activities. Walden also provides ATR (Access to Recovery) services to ATR enrolled clients in family counseling and transportation categories.  A limited number of slots for buprenorphine induction and management are also available, primarily offered to existing Walden treatment clients.

Mental health services available include psychiatric assessment and medication management and mental health counseling/therapy provided by Walden’s master’s level licensed social worker team of practitioners.

Residential Treatment

The residential addiction services offered at Walden are open to adults only. Anchor Residential Treatment provides medically monitored detoxification, medical stabilization, counseling and continuing care planning services.  Services in this intermediate care facility and length of stay are based on individual need.  For those eligible for ATR (Access to Recovery) Services, the Anchor program provides portal and care coordination services.

Anchor also offers on-site extended/long term residential care (residential services with Intensive Outpatient Treatment and, as needed mental health, psychiatric services, and medication assisted treatment) in a program called North Star.  Both North Star and Compass offer long-term residential treatment options to adults.  The Compass Program provides a half-way house environment for individuals seeking an environment supportive of stabilizing recovery.   Individuals residing at Compass participate in treatment and care management services.
