Substance Abuse Services
For concerns ranging from problem drinking, addiction to legal and illegal drugs, to chemical dependency, our substance abuse treatment program provides quality, comprehensive services based on level of need. We strive to make our treatment and education programs accessible and effective by offering a wide range of assistance. We serve adolescents, adults and families. An assessment begins the process for all those seeking treatment. Appointment information is available by contacting the 24 hour Walden hotline at 301-863-6661 or via the appointment line at 301-997-1300 ext 850. We accept walk in clients as well.- Adolescent services include education and treatment efforts. Educational groups seek to prevent or minimize the use/abuse of alcohol, drugs and nicotine. For those that need more than education, treatment services are provided in an individual or group format.
- Adult services are also offered via both education and treatment. For adults, we offer a wide range of treatment options ranging in intensity based on the needs and treatment histories of the individual. Walden has a range of outpatient and recovery support services, also known as relapse prevention and aftercare. Detoxification and residential services are currently offered at our Anchor Treatment Center (please see below).
- Family education and involvement can make a significant difference in the success of treatment for individuals with families. Walden staff can assist family members with support on how to intervene to get a family member to treatment. Our staff can also help loved ones and families address relationship issues with a family member or significant other in recovery.
- Urinalysis testing is provided to assist in monitoring and maintaining treatment success.
- At Walden, we work hard to offer clients a Recovery Oriented System of Care, in which treatment is an important part of recovery that promotes the capacity of persons in recovery to also take advantage of recovery supportive relationships and resources in the community. We collaborate closely with human service and social service providers plus a wide range of community leaders and volunteers to make linkages available to clients that address employment, housing, healthcare, education, personal development, and social needs.
- MVA-focused programs include a six-week Alcohol Education Program, the 26-wekk DWI Group Services, and the MVA Driver Improvement Program.
- Walden community-based outpatient services can also be accessed through our partnerships with the St. Mary's County Schools, the St. Mary's County Detention Center, Judicial System and Juvenile Justice. Our co-location of addictions counselors and family treatment specialists with these partners increases access to our services for community members with some of the most intense needs for Walden's help.
