Alcohol and Drug Treatment Use Services

Walden offers individualized alcohol and drug treatment to fit the individualized needs of both adolescents and adults. Walden counselors typically suggest the least restrictive level of care that meets the individual’s need for treatment. We offer walk-in assessments at each of our locations. M-F 11-2 Lexington Park, M-F 1-3 pm in Waldorf and M-F 11 am-2 pm Charlotte Hall.

Family education and engagement is available and encouraged. Please see our FAQ's page for information about recovery support for families such as Al Anon and Family and Friends SMART Recovery meetings locally.

Residential Services

For some substance use clients Walden offers a more supportive environment and provides residential services.

  • Anchor Residential Treatment provides medically monitored detoxification, medical stabilization, counseling and continuing care planning services. Services in this intermediate care facility and length of stay are based on individual need. For those eligible for Net Recovery Services, the Anchor program provides portal and care coordination services. Anchor also offers on-site extended/long term residential care (residential services with Intensive Outpatient Treatment and, as needed mental health, psychiatric services, and medication assisted treatment) in a program called North Star.
  • North Star and Compass offer long-term residential treatment options to adults. The Compass Program provides a half-way house environment for individuals seeking an environment supportive of stabilizing recovery. Individuals residing at Compass participate in treatment and care management services.

Outpatient Services

Walden also offers outpatient services for substance use clients. There are 3 different levels of treatment:

Early Intervention and education 2 hours/week education for 6 weeks

  • Specialized DWI Education Walden provides State certified DUI/DWI Six Week/12 hour education and/or counseling services that meet MVA requirements for first time or repeat DWI/DUI charges.

Level 1 1-2 hours/week of individual or group treatment

  • First time DWI and substance misuse  

IOP (Intensive Outpatient) A 9 hour program offered during both the daytime/evening.
