Our Approach

Walden utilizes a range of evidence-based approaches
and specific strategies to provide individualized services.
Much of our therapeutic and treatment approach is based on Motivational
Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Risking Connection. It is our
goal to provide integrated behavioral health services that meet a variety of individual needs for assessment, drug and alcohol (substance abuse) treatment, mental health therapy, psychiatric services, medication assisted therapy (suboxone and buprenorphine), medication management, trauma counseling, recovery support and care management.

Our Vision

Walden exists to responsively meet community needs. We strive to provide high quality, compassionate services and leadership to Southern Maryland in the areas of integrated behavioral health (trauma informed mental health and substance abuse treatment) and crisis intervention services. Our philosophy of service seeks to engage with our community members and partners in a Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) that places person-centered treatment and a dedication to supporting recovery as our primary modes of addressing the addiction, mental health and crisis needs of the individuals and families we serve. Walden’s vision is to become the region’s leading provider in integrated care, as delivered at our own facilities and as co-located with our community partners. We are proud to be partnered with Medstar St. Mary’s and other local partners in the Healthcare Enterprise Zone (HEZ) project in Lexington Park/Great Mills. As part of this effort, we now have full-time psychiatrist Dr. Haith in our Hope Place facility in Lexington Park.
